Kollywood’s top heroine Shriya Saran went for a ‘darshan’ to Tirupati temple on Sunday morning. She flew down from Mumbai to Chennai on Saturday evening, caught up with friends and then drove down to Tirupati for an early morning ‘darshan’.

For Shriya it was a ‘Thanks Giving’ of sorts, as her first Malayalam film with Mammootty and Prithviraj Pokkiri Raja has turned out to be a super hit.

Shriya spoke exclusively to one leading network: “I go to the Tirupati temple at least once in a year.Praying there, gives me a lot of inner peace and confidence. This time, I had Suprabhatam darshan (awakening the Lord) as early as three in the morning.

Shriya Saran is on cloud nine after receiving accolades from her friends and fans for her portrayal of Subbulaxmi in Kanthaswamy.

Fans in Tamil Nadu have warmed up to Shriya's flawless skin, perfect figure, beautiful smile and that touch of class she brings in to all her performances.

Shriya Saran grew up in Delhi, studying at the Delhi Public School and is a literature graduate from the Lady Sriram College in New Delhi. She is a Kathak dancer and has trained under the noted dancer and Kathak exponent Shovana Narayan.

The pretty lady will soon be off to Toronto for the premiere of her new film What's cooking Stella. In Tamil, her forthcoming releases include Kutty, Jaggu Bhai and Chukku Bukku.

Shriya's bollywood future in Ek- The Power of One film - coming soon

Friday (March 27), Shriya's bollywood film Ek- The Power of One will be released.

Shriya has done 35 odd films mainly in Telugu and Tamil and only four films in Hindi. But all her Hindi releases including the last Mission Istanbul were colossal flops.

Now everything is riding on Ek- The Power of One, the remake of Mahesh Babu’s Telugu Athudu. The film has Nana Patekar, Bobby Deol and Shriya in the lead and is directed by Sangeet Sivan, the younger brother of Santosh Sivan. It looks like a slick action film with some romance and music of Pritam.

This is the Punjabi girl’s last and final chance in Bollywood. So let us hope the film clicks and she makes it big in her home state. Shriya need not be worried as she has the pick of films in Kollywood- Kanthasamy, Jaggubhai, Kutty, Thoranai, Chikku Bukku, and is all set to be the number one in 2009!

Shreya have five kollywood film releases in 2009

Shriya is on cloud nine. Understandably so, among all heroines in Kollywood, she will have five releases in 2009. And now she is on a signing spree.

The latest is that she has signed Metro Film's untitled two heroine film with Arya as hero and directed by Manikandan. The other heroine in this romantic film is Preethi Rao younger sister of Amrita Rao.

Last year, Shriya did not have a single release in Tamil, except a special appearance with Vadivel in Indralogathil Na Azhgappan , which not only bombed but also made her persona non grata with big heroes.

And after burning her fingers in Bollywood and Hollywood Shriya is now concentrating on Kollywood. She has Kanthasamy with Vikram in May, followed by Jaggubhai with Sarath Kumar in June.
Then she has Thorannai with Vishal and Kutty where she is paired opposite Dhanush. And the big buzz is that she is trying to get into Ajit's Asal and replace Sameera Reddy!

Susi Ganesan the director of the film in a recent interview said that only introduction song of Shriya remains to be shot.

Now the last song in the film will be shot next week in a studio set in Chennai. The new trailer of the film's Telugu version is being shown in channels in Andhra.

This has raised the promotion of the film, and soon the Tamil trailer too will be released.

Meanwhile the Shriya song in the film Excuse me Mr. Kanthasamy.. has run into trouble.

A petition has been filed in the Madras High Court by one Elango claiming that the lyrics of the song was written by him for which credit has been given to another writer. Elango is asking for a compensation of Rs 1 lakh.

At the same time the audio of the film will be released by January 31 at a big function in Chennai.

Kanthasamy is going to be the big summer release in the first week of May.

Shreya and Trisha are Pursuit of heroines for the film ‘Marmayogi’

Wow! The hot missy girls are finally shoring on for a big project. Pursuit of heroines for the film ‘Marmayogi’ started all the way soon much before the release of Dasavatharam. Hema Malini was the first one to be signed in for the project while the rumors about other heroines getting in where published.

But, Kamal Haasan had his hopes dashed with most of the leading heroines refusing his offer including Bollywood’s Kajol and Shriya Charan. Finally, Trisha was roped into the project signing her call sheet for continuous 100 days and Shriya has confirmed.


Shooting for the film will hit the floors of Sweden by next month and Kamal Haasan is in talks with other heroines too. Rest of the star-casts and crewmembers would be soon specified. A.R.Rahman has started composing background score to the film as well working parallel on Rajnikanth’s Endhiran.

Shriya is one actress who shot to fame after being paired with superstar Rajinikanth in Shivaji. She was even referred to as Shivaji girl after the sucess of the movie. Then on the actress went on to do a couple of Bollywood movies and also a Hollywood movie.

The latest buzz doing the round is that she has been approched for the next magnum opus by Ulaganayagan Kamal Hassan. ”I went over to cloud nine when they approached me to act opposite Kamal sir in ‘Marmayogi’. However, talks are still on and nothing has been finalized yet.’ Shriya Saran said when quizzed about this.

Shriya is currently busy with ‘Kandasamy’, ‘Jaggubai’ and a Hollywood film ‘The other side of the line’ produced by Ashok Amritraj.
